i am going to put new pickups in my Ibanez Prestige 1570.

i have the tonezone/air norton in a 3550MZ
i have the crunchlab/liquifire in a 2570EVSL

i want the 1570 to have more output than the others. it will be in C#std/drop B. i don't want to lose clarity at all for output. i haven't tried a guitar on with the EVO or EVO 2 but i am curious if that would be different enough than the others. i want chugg-ability, but still nice enough to go with a neck pickup for sweet leads. i do not want active or extreme output.

so would you go with either or something different? thoughts?

what about matching neck pickups? dimarzio says the EVO neck pickup goes well with the EVO 2 bridge pickup as well.

not interested in SD or any other company really. the dimarzios have treated me well in my ibanezs'.

The new Vai sigs are pretty decent.

Ground storm or something.

thanks though.

In terms of output, both are less than the Crunch Lab. The only Dimarzios that are hotter than that are the D-Activator (X), Super Distortion, Super 3, Titan, X2N, and the Steve Morse. Petrucci's other pickup, the Illuminator is the same output as the Crunch Lab.

i was listening to demos, and what do you all think about the D-Activator? they have a matched set for $140 on MF. they sound pretty good too.

how do they do with C#std tuning?

Those are Dimarzio's take on EMG actives. I'm not a fan of them from my limited experience with them, but my friend uses them with good results, but he plays Nu-metal, so....

yuck. nu metal.

i think they may do me alright. i will take more opinions, but hell if i don't like them, dimarzio will do one free swap. worst case scenario i try something else .

do they have definition to them at all? because i hate the X2N's and i don't want that.

If you want clarity while chugging, I would heavily consider the Titans. That's what they're made for.

i like the bridge pickup , but i am not sure if the neck pickup is what i like. also i would like to hear a 'raw' track of one.

what are your thoughts on the D-Activators? i like them a lot in the video i posted ^ . seemed that it was fairly straight forward as far as recording goes. $140 for the set isn't bad either, just would make it easier to get some new pickups in something else.
