Hey guys,

Entertaining the idea of picking this one up (maybe offering $225-250). Really just looking for a guitar to play around with with a decent floyd. This one has a Duncan Invader and a Schaller licensed floyd which I hear are the better of the licensed ones. I'd have to do something about that finish though

Anybody have info on what model this is? Maybe an estimate on the time period it was manufactured (looks maybe '90s to me but I don't know much about them)?

Get a pic of the neck-plate. If it says TX on it it was MIJ and they are very nice guitars and it will be a late *)'s model

toothpaste logo so very late 80s or early 90s. all Chavels have US on plate. that guitar has been modded pretty sure paint isn't original. the trem is recessed which i don't think any old charvel's had. pickups aren't original either.

That's definitely an 80s neck and a repainted body. Without a certificate of authenticity proving that it was made in the USA I'd avoid it. Also pretty sure they wouldn't use a licensed floyd on an USA san dimas.

that paint is bitchin'

You're all wrong, that is a Charvel Fusion Plus that has been repainted and has a new neck on it. The neck is from 1989-1992 because of the toothpaste logo. That is not the original neck, because the original neck had the inlays on the bottom frets. Check the catalog page 12

Don't think you're right either. Check it .The fusion plus has a volume and tone. This one only has one knob. And look at the position of the controls relative to the switch. Way off..

How are we wrong when the body is repainted so you don't know either and I already said the neck isn't original. WIthout actually seeing the guitar before repaint, we have no idea what it is.

Aside from the wrong fretboard and controls, you were so close.

That stuff can be modified fairly easily, the dead giveaway is the cutaway on the lower horn which is not as easy to duplicate. During that period, Charvel didn't offer another guitar in an HH configuration, in that price range with that lower cutaway. Volume controls and what not can be modified as I'm sure we all know. Could have been done the same time the guitar was painted.

Wouldn't it be funny to know that it is actually a Jackson body and not a Charvel at all

I thought about that, however it doesn't have the top cutaway that the ones from that era did though. Regardless, whether its a parts guitar or not, it should be of excellent quality anyway, whoever put that thing together knew what they were doing.

i looked at the catalogue and saw three bodies with the single pot inline with the selector switch. a charvette, a fusion and a soloist. most if not all of the soloists were neckthru. the charvette and the fusion both had single coils in the neck position. i think it's a frankenstrat with a charvel neck on it. the huge arc routed out on the back looks familiar but cant quite recall why. post it on the charvel forum and you'll get the truth. i haven't been on there in years. i've forgotten half of what i used to know.

Sure you could mod the tone and volume controls, but who is going to take the time to remove the control, then plug either one or both of the holes and THEN move the hole's position relative to the switch, that or plug the slot for the switch and hole for the tone and then move the switch. I'm sorry but that's VERY unlikely.
