That thing looks quite odd. A power-amp inside of a pedal? Hmm.

And no, don't use a power-amp signal to go to a PA. Your PA should be powered by itself. You would need a 1/4 to XLR direct injection box.

he isn't trying to run a PA with it. the short answer is yes you can however bear in mind that the pedal is a power amp and needs something like a multi-fx unit as a preamp.

... What?

I'm reading this as: Can I use my pedals with the Magnum at the end of my chain to send a signal to a PA system?

I.E. A powered signal to an already powered amp.

From your pedals, you use a 1/4 cable to a direct box, which from the box you'll have a XLR cable to the mixer of the PA.

It probably won't sound too good because a lot of sound work is done through standard guitar amps. You might want to get a direct box with a cab sim built into it.

Is the PA you are referring to powered?

my bad i thought it had a direct out option it doesn't. so no it needs to go to a speaker cabinet.

Yeah, using the Magnum would require you to send the Magnum's signal to an unpowered cab of sorts. One with 8 or 16 ohm imp requirement, at around a 50 watt rating.

Ideally, TS would use the Magnum with a cab, and mic the cab to the PA.

I require something decent sounding. Maybe a preamp pedal?

And yeah, it is a powered PA.

I need something while my little Laney gets fixed.

I see. I think that even amp simulator pedals (what I think you meant by preamp pedal) still sound bad without a cab or cab sim. If you ever try it, there is terrible gnarl and clipping that just doesn't work. At least that's my experience.

If you want a quick, budget option, I suggest the Behringer Ultra-G direct box. It has a decent cab sim on it, and is only $40 USD. Essentially, you'll get the cab sim and the DI box in one go.

you can run a multi-fx unit into the PA and that will work. may not be ideal though. somehting like a POD would be way better but wuld run you a few bucks. you have another amp in your sig so why not use that?

Right now I'm in Playa del Carmen and my rig is far from here, since I moved 2 months ago, and I need something small for playing in bars.

I would love a POD but it is out of my budget ATM. I need something on the fly.

What about an Ampeg B-50R? I just saw one here and it is cheap.

People say it sounds really good and I have used bass amps with guitar before, but not this particular model.

big step down from what you are used to. would have to be mic'd for sure and honestly that's just a practice amp.

Well, TBH I just need something that sounds better than playing straight into PA. Like I said, I'll eventually use my Laney. I'll try the Ampeg tomorrow.

Bandit's aren't half bad in a pinch. run it clean and use a distortion pedal instead of teh onboard distorton (if you need that). i used one for a while back in the 80s and got by.

Maybe I don't get how the 44 Magnum works, but it seems to me that you put the 44 Magnum at the end of your pedal chain and then connect it to a cabinet. You essentially have a 44W solid state head in a pedal.

So TS, if you were to get the 44 Magnum, you'd also need a cab.

It might be a good idea, but you could easily get a Bandit for cheaper than the 44 Mag + a cab.
