I figured this was the best place to get suggestions/help finding something I may have overlooked.

I'm looking for a 7 string with small frets. If anyone could help me out with finding one for under $500 it would be much appreciated! (Alot to ask I know).
I have a 6 string RG, but I'm looking to upgrade and am going with a 7 string. I was going to get another Ibanez until I played my brother in law's 6 string. It was a baritone with small-medium frets. I loved the way it felt, but I've been unable to find an affordable 7 that didn't have super-jumbos. I'm pretty open to anything, even if I don't like it, it's always fun to shop. I also thought about buying a neck, but the only 7 stringers I could find were Ibanez.

This is my first time posting so be kind!

Most 7 strings, unfortunately, are build for shredders. Which means large or jumbo frets. I have the same issues finding a 7 with the more classic Gibsonesque styling I like.

What gear do you have and what are you playing with the 7 string?

Truth be told I'm a total beginner. All I've got is a bedroom amp (line 6 spider 15)
Most the songs I'm learning/have learned to play are drop A, and drop B. 7 string just feels like the right move. Thanks for the response! Maybe in the future I can look into getting a Warmoth neck made..?

If you just want to go low, you just might be better off with a baritone. LTD released a few this year. THough in your budget an Agile would be pretty good http://www.rondomusic.com/AL627flatblk.html

But seriously, upgrade your amp first. You can always put stupid heavy strings on any 6 string and drop tune.

I would get one of these for the Hipshot bridge. One is a 27" scale with EMG 707s and the other is a 28" scale with SD Blackouts.

You should also save for a new amp, though.

Just out of curiosity What's the opinion between the Ibanez RG8, and the Agile Septor 827?
Is one any better than the other?

Agile is the better bang for the buck. But seriously you just jumped from 7 to 8 strings without trying either. I'd really look into what you want from a guitar and need musically. Like I said, if you just want to go low buy a baritone 6 string and drop tune it.

I'm not looking to get an 8 string(for now at least). Like I said I like to shop.
When I do get a new guitar it won't be in the next few days so I got time to choose.

Well, that... sucks.

And I agree with what you're saying. Time to step back and really take a hard look at what you want out of your instrument, Dead_Gardens. Probably have even more money by then.
