i know that tone chasing sucks, but i have wanted this tone:

shadows fall on the art of balance.

the guitar is a superstrat with EMG's. amp i think is a marshall.

i have seen them five or six times, and it is the same in person as it is in the recording.

i know there is some double tracking, but even with that it just sounds so good.

I think the signature amp for those guys is the riveria Ktre.

that was on later albums for sure.

any advise on such a 'clean' and tight OD but heavy? or is that just so much double, triple tracking etc?

i think my promod could get close, but not quite. or i am missing something. right now its through a randall cab with 2x12" T75's and an Eminence legend 15" (all in one).

less distortion and very precise eq. you may want to back off the distortion from the amp and use a little from your overdrive. i've found that this makes it easier to control the distortion and dial it in. perhaps an eq pedal. from what i'm hearing you want to dial in some high end sizzle that doesn't turn to fizz.
