If you don't wanna go out one day, do you make up / elaborate an excuse, or do you just say you dont feel like going out?

If I say I don' feel like going out, I often find people pressuring me to socialise when sometimes I just wanna stay in and relax on my own. Thus I tend to make excuses which makes me look really flakey but it is a problem that has developed over time because people don't seem to respect you when you say you wanna stay in, and will try for hours to convince you saying they'll buy you drinks or food and stuff.

i always make excuses. or pretty much lie.

go-to excuse for me is stomach issues.

but mostly i have no real good friends to bug me to come out.

my own fault tho. i don't talk to anyone to the point where people think i'm dead until i hit them up after radio silence for 4 years.

gonna have to meet up with my one friend soon though. winter's almost over so that excuse went out the window.

i need to get out of the house soon anyway. maybe find a girlfriend who can put up with my miserable ass.

edit: i don't know if it's been addressed before, but a lot of us seem to have social issues.

i wonder if there's a connection between that and frequenting an internet forum...

I really don't and I was suicidal about it a couple weeks ago.

I have 1 proper one that I meet that I haven't seen in about a month.

I've got plenty of mates, I just don't see the vast majority of them.

You assume I have friends for which to go out with.

I don't. ._.

But if I did I would probably just be honest with them and tell them I don't feel like going.
Last time I got asked if I wanted to go to a party, I didn't get to tell them that I hadn't slept that night.

Pressuring me makes me feel awful and want to stay in even more.

Especially when people say "I'll buy your drinks!, I'll pay for your food! I'll cover the taxi!". Like that's not going to bite you in the arse later on. Hate being indebted to people.

i'm the same way with that kind of thing.

i wouldn't call it pride, but i just don't like having other people pay for my shit most of the time. makes me feel like shit. almost like i have to pay them back plus a little extra for the trouble.

i still hate myself for having my mom pay my student loan bills for so long before i found steady work.

i even get anxiety about having to ask someone if i can crash at their house. if they don't offer first, i feel like i'm inviting myself and i'm being intrusive.

that's actually one of the main reasons i lost touch with so many friends after i dropped out of school.

that's the worst. I'm not a child, bribing me with sweets won't get me to do what you want. It just makes me more annoyed and stubborn (if that's even possible)

I don't like asking for lifts out to places, feels presumptuous but sometimes it's the only way to get me out cos I'm lazy and live 40 minutes away from the town centre walking. Doing that trip multiple times a day adds up.

Yep same here, literally makes me more uncooperative and less likely to go out. Hate being the centre of attention too which you ineviatably are if people start buying you drinks.

I only see my friends once or twice a week, so considering how much alone-time I have I never need excuses since I always want to go out. But if I did need an excuse I'd just say I was ill. With ebola or something.

It's better to say you have plans and make up an excuse, makes you seem busy and in demand.
If you say you just don't want to go out people will stop asking you out.

This! I always was honest telling people I was just too tired. Mostly Friday nights because I work farmer early on Saturdays... People dont ask as much anymore. Shit my birthday just passed and everyone but my roommate assumed I didnt want to do anything and no one asked.

I only lie if i don't really care about meeting them and do not want to be invited to other gatherings in the future. If i'm too tired to go out i just say so unless it's less than half a day before we're supposed to meet - then i just suck it up and go unless i am legitimately suffering from a medical condition.

If someone flakes out twice on me i don't bother making plans again, so i act assuming that others will do the same.

People who continue to try and convince you to go out, after youve said you dont want to, are very selfish and childish.
#38
Yeah making plans is so much different, if I've said that I'll do something with someone then I will. I only get iffy when people ask me 5 minutes before hand, or ring me as they're going out
