Have to call about that one. Definitely not a 1570. Might be a 570 but the pic is too small to tell for sure. The bridge doesn't look like an original Edge but it might be.

Sorry about the vagueness guys. I'm thinking an rg type with a floyd. I currently have an Ltd ec-256 and I love it. The floyd is really the main thing I'm looking for. Thanks for the great responses so far.

Look for a used RG550, 570 or 1570. You are more than likely to find a 570 and 1570 in that range. Sometimes the 550 is harder to come by at that price.

I think that it is going to be hard to find a prestige in your range. I got lucky at a 2570evsl for $380, but both the seller and I thought it was a 1570. I picked up a 1570 for a tad under $500 from GC, but it didn't come with a trem arm.

I don't know about the 550 and 570 though.

If you can't find one in that range i would try to save more, i wouldn't compromise for a lower level ibanez.

520s go much cheaper for some reason. I think it's because no one talks about them. I got mine for around $250 I think. It's literally just a 570 with HH config instead of HSH.

What do you guys think of this? http://www.espguitars.com/products/9722-mh-103qm-stb.
I used to have a strat and I loved having a single coil neck pickup, I'm also leaning to the one because it has the same neck as my eclipse. Opinions?
P.S. blue is also my favorite color

the ibanez' listed above have better trems imo.

Guitars with FR Specials are basically bad investments. The Special will eventually wear out and you'll be left with either having to block the trem, making the guitar a fixed bridge, or else have a floating bridge that can't stay in tune or return to pitch.

If you want to stay with LTD, get a 600 or 1000 series model, they all have FR 1000s or OFRs (at least to my knowledge very early LTD Deluxes had OFRs. They may all be 1000s though. Not a big deal either way, they're very similar in quality).

The original Edge on the Ibanez 500 models is considered by some to be superior to the OFR, considered to at least be on par by the rest. I have an RG520 and I consider the original Edge to be more solid, it just feels a bit heavier and durable.

The Prestige RGs will have either an Edge Pro or an Edge Zero if it's newer. IMO it's totally a preference thing. They're all professional quality, easily.

What you want to generally stay away from are the FR Specials, licensed FRs, Ibanez Lo TRS and Edge III bridges. The Edge Zero II seems good, but not really worth considering if you can get one of the others mentioned before.

Also I almost forgot to mention the Ibanez ZR. It's a totally different kind of bridge, it's a hinge system rather than a knife edge system. I have a ZR with ZPS in my S420 and I think it's a fantastic innovation. After you play with a ZR you realize that knife edges are just a pretty stupid design. But regardless, the quality is there and they'll work fine no problems. Again, preference. Most people prefer the feel and response of a good knife edge trem over a hinge trem. I'm a sucker for smart design so I really love and appreciate the ZR. Unfortunately they've been discontinued. Take that up with Ibanez, I guess they didn't sell enough or something.

The general consensus seems to be that I should by used. I've heard that trems wear down over time, so I thought it wouldn't be a good idea. So does everyone vote used?

i always buy used.

a good trem maintained properly will last for a long time. shitty trems just get worse.

so i would buy a used guitar with a good trem.
