I have an Ibanez XG300 MGS , its a discontinued model (came out about 3 years ago)

The 1/4 inch jack socket bust and I have been attempting to find the part,

Initiially I thought easy enough get on amazon but a 1/4 inch stereo socket fit it myself,

I bought one and it was a tight fit into the body, and whether it was down to cheap design or my handy work , the guitar now has earthing issues,

I tested it and its the socket,

Now I thought if I just bought the original part for the guitar all would be well, I can't find anywhere , I have emailed a few Ibanez dealers and getting either no response or just been told its discontinued.

I assume any Stereo 1/4 inch socket would do so longs it is of similar size and build of the original.

I prefer not to get someone else to repair it as I am getting quoted anywhere from 20 to 40 pound for a simple soldering job?

Any ideas

A picture of the jack would be useful. Have you tried Rich at Ibanezrules.com? I have been thoroughly convinced by now if he doesn't have it, no one will. He's a bit pricy but the guy knows his shit and will get you exactly what you need.

You said you bought one off of amazon, was it a good one or a cheap one? Try a Switchcraft.

Yeh the one off amazon was pretty cheap when I got it ,
I will have a look at Switchcraft thought thank you

Neutrik are good too and a bit smaller than a Switchcraft IIRC.
