Okay, I know chances are this is in the wrong section, but the pit is the most highly-trafficked section of the UG forums.

My favorite composer is the Romantic-Impressionist Claude Debussy; however, he seems to live in obscurity for the most part (so many people ask me "what's Claire de Lune" and I think about "giving them a v8").

Anyway, I like Debussy's works and form because of the upheaval of musical rules and the collection of creativity and expertise used to define a number of tones and emotions throughout his work. He is one composer that I consider to be truly innovative.

Do you like Debussy? Why or why not?

...Debussy is one of the most popular composers. How does he live in obscurity...?

...modes and scales are still useless.

Did you hear about the cockney Godfather?

He made them an offer they couldn't understand.

like really though. Claire de Lune is one of the most popular 'classical' songs ever. If people don't know what it is, just say "the fountains at the end of Oceans 11" and everyone knows what it is

Everyone I talk to him about, including most music history geeks, really don't know much about him. A lot of people are unfortunately like "de-who?" I feel like giving them a v8 so to speak haha

V8's are healthy. that is a good thing to give to your friends, because then they will be healthy.

Then they're not interested in music history and they're certainly not 'geeks'.

Seriously, Debussy is very, very mainstream by classical standards.
