Someone's selling a JSX half stack around $1600-$1690 USD, he says the amp is in very good condition, never been repaired and has very few hours of use. I know this is a very good amp and is discontinued. I want it, but is it worth the money or is it overpriced? i really don't know what the original price in stores was.

Thanks.

Ha! No.

Go on ebay or reverb and take a look at prices. Plenty to refer to.

Guitar center will sell you that same head and cab for $800.

New prices on the XXX II which is the JSX replacement are 1200 for the head. The original JSX sold for slightly less IIRC. 1600 may have been what the half stack sold for new.

I concur. You can get the head for that $500-600 used all the time. If you want new with a warranty check out the XXX II which is the exact same as the JSX just without Satriani's name on it and a different grille.

I've sometimes seen the XXX II for even less used on Guitar Center's used site but I think they fixed the pricing.

i just had the head pop up on CL for ~$400. i was tempted, but i have enough amps.

also, peavey cabs have shit speakers, so i wouldn't even bother with a current peavey cab.

Is a JSX worth $1600? Maybe. They're pretty damn nice amps and versatile as hell.

But, you can get JSX heads all day long for $500. I'd skip the Peavey cabs as well, as they have Sheffields which are quite shitty. The cabs themselves are just fine. Anyway, it's a buyer's market for JSX heads. I'm planning on getting one myself. $1600? That sounds like my local Craigslist prices, lol.

^ your right, they don't list it anymore. They must have stopped the XXX-II and the 3120 series.

No big loss on the XXX, only crunch channel was worth anything. The lead channel was a fuzzy mess.

It is a very versatile amp for the money

But the JSX is virtually the same price. And it's better than the XXX in every way.

Unless you like 80s metal tones.

Then my condolences.

True. Maybe a nice high gain 3 channel with nipple tassels all over it is in the works? Seems logical after the mud flap XXX girl.
