I posted the verses to this tune yesterday before I had a chorus written. The chorus came to me this afternoon...

I could take off for Ohio by the dark of night
Say goodbye to my whole life and leave
By the time I hit that highway, second thoughts should all be gone
The dust in my rear-view is all I see

For ten years, this old guitar has got me nowhere
Around here there's nowhere to go
Between incarceration and the grave
I don't have time to live life this damn slow

I-95's not long enough, I'm trying' to run away
Somewhere south where no one knows the games I've had to play
To keep myself alive this long, keep four wheels on the road
I've become a shell of my former self with nowhere left to go

They say the grass is greener on the wrong side of the tracks
The train just hasn't rolled through in some time
Memories like waves all crash against the shore
Dug up from the backyard of my mind

I-95's not long enough, I'm trying' to run away
Somewhere south where no one knows the debts I haven't paid
To keep myself alive this long, keep four wheels on the road
I've become a shell of my former self with nowhere left to go

I've met troubadours and gypsies in these pool halls I call home
No one's heard a single song I've played
The radio tells me Baltimore's on fire
It's really quite a shame that I can't stay

I-95's not long enough, I'm trying' to run away
Going 80 down this interstate, these towns all look the same
I've kept myself alive this long, keeping four wheels on the road
I've become a shell of my former self with nowhere left to go
