I bought this guitar while on a trip to Japan in 2008, not realizing that it was themed after Derek and the Dominoes and Layla. I've tried Googling around, but can't find any information about this guitar or if there are any other Layla Nomad's around. It's also interesting that this guitar doesn't actually say Nomad on it, it says Kero instead. Any info is greatly appreciated!

It's one of Fernandes' ZO-3 range, which is just the Japanese-market Nomad; seems to have been one of those limited runs of the sort one can do with low-cost instruments, like a Spongebob ukulele or the like. The single coil, at least, seems to be someone unusual among ZO-3s, so there's that.

There really isn't that much info on it, on account of it's been out of production a while, but the three sites I found referring to it (all in Japanese, I just used Google Translate so you're no worse off than I am):
http://www.gakkibeya.com/115_132.html
http://guiter7.seesaa.net/category/1596991-1.html (second from the bottom)
https://www.kerokero.jp/servlet/collection.goods?g_id=33

Anyone else feel like these guitars look kinda like elephants? I wonder if that's intentional...

Hey man, I think I've found some answers! As for your elephant observation, I can explain that as well! If you look at this link (http://musicthing.blogspot.ca/2005/09/fernandes-psychedelic-travel-guitars.html), you'll see that the Zeppelin Zoso guitar actually says "Zosan", which is the Japanese word for elephant! Also, "san" in Japanese means 3, so that is most likely why it is called the ZO-3 (ZO-SAN), which means that these guitars are most likely intended to look like elephants, as they are named after them

The third link you sent really piqued my interest, as the company's name is KeroKero which I thought was connected to the Kero on the headstock. I got someone to translate that webpage for me, and this is what it says:

Domino

Free shipping

Design by Yousuke Kihara! Art rock ZO-3 series, second season model! There's nothing to be said. Layla is the song for the Domino and sunburst strato. Please play it. Layla... that's why we built this guitar. Has an on-board distortion-circuit, of course.

* In the mails we send it is stated that shipping is charged separately, but in reality it is not.

This product is sold out.

Character name: sunshine

Type: electric guitar

Cost: 44,940 yen

Limited to: 5 guitars

Sales status: sales have concluded.

So, it appears that this guitar was indeed part of a limited Art Rock series, and only 5 were made! I think its so crazy that I own one haha
