Didn't find any mention of them here, so check them out. They seem to be not really that well known yet, but they are free and kind of awesome.

https://pvdhp7.wordpress.com/

They are a bit noisy, and still have some bugs (some missing controls) but I really like how they sound. And his site is a bit messy, but I definetly think these should be more known. Once this thread is done I think they should be added to the amp sim thread.

Here's a small riff I recorded with a knock-off Tele

https://soundcloud.com/miikakeskim-ki/taranov-amp-simulation-test

The amps are (in order):

-Diezel VH4
-Peavey Fireball
-Randall Satan (My new favourite plugin)
-Mesa Recto Preamp
-Mesa Mark III

All settings at noon, no boost in front, low cut at 95hz (Catharsis s-preshigh as cabinet simulation). First repeat without drums and bass.

I'm sure they sound pretty good.

But nothing puts me off amp sims more than cheap looking interfaces.

ugh.

I know, it shouldn't be that big problem but yeah....

I'm glad Satan (Solar) looks good a bit better than the most.

Better but still looks like a 90's FMV point and click game puzzle.

I think the best way to do it on a low budge is the way the Mercuriall JCM800 Hot Preamp does it. With abstraction.

I don't know, it's a nice idea, but doesn't really work for me. I like to have even a small illusion of fiddling an amp with real dials.

Maybe the UI will improve when they get more well known, lepou plugins used to look much worse.

True dat, or just with practise.

They do sound pretty good tho, I may have to check the Randal Satan out.

Ah, Vadim is still in amp sims. He used to be pretty big in the AcmeBarGig Headcase amps until it went down the toilet after Ken and Art (aka S1770, VirtualAmpStash) fell out. I wondered what happened to him, he made some pretty sweet stuff once upon a time.

I gave the Solar/Satan ago and it's alright.

But the JCM800HotPreamp is still the best amp sim I've ever used. Unlikely to take over from it for me.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.
