Since I can't lug the big beasts around as much as I did and need something quieter for recording, this seems to fit the bill. It does the broots well. I find myself playing in retro mode more than in modern. My Jackson soloist with active pickups and this amp were an instant Metallica "Master" era sound.

Nice. Of all the "mini" amps I've tried, this is definitely my favorite.

Unfortunately I don't see getting hold of its big brother...had a friend that had a Dual Rec. and through a 4x12 this (little) thing can get pretty close. I'd have to say that I like the cleans on this more than on the bigger sibling, gain might be a bit less 3 dimensional but again I don't have the big one to compare with and so I'm just going on memory here.

My buddy also put an OD in front of his so I'll play around with that next. Had an analog delay in the loop today and the leads were like buttah.

Nice!
That's my main amp too sounds sweet and it's very loud, did a gig with it last week and the Mordern channel only went pass 1! Took a bit of time finding the 'sweet' spot.

I'm literally swimming with ODs: Zendrive, Bottle Rocket, DOD 308, TRI-OD, Guvnor, etc...
I'd start with Bottle Rocket first since it is Mesa

I am swimming in ODs as well. ATM, the timmy gets the most love on the tremoverb. The zendrive is best with the dual terror. The Rockerverb loves the blues pro. The others sleep around. Most don't see a lot of action.

The Mini has been my amp of choice since it came out in 2011. IMO the clean channel NEEDS a good reverb unit for subtle reverb though. I just got a Mad Professor Silver Spring to use with mine and now feel like the amp is more "complete" so to speak. 😊

Not sure man, I've been to happy cranking it, will test and report back.

@highgainer - I'm more into subtle chorus, so my clean is through the Voodoolab Chorus pedal. I hate verb for live work as you lose your punch and your guitar volume falls in the mix level, so I stopped using.

The Clean, Push and Vintage channels are all great at low volumes in both 25 and 10 watt settings. But if you want that classic rec sound You want Modern 25w ( in 10w it just hasn't got that same bite/edge) but in 25w the volume goes from nothing to pretty loud! I did a gig a couple of days ago and it only went up to 1.5 (small -mid size pub)
Hard to say but I'd say around 55Ddb if that helps.

Good idea, I'll try it on db measuring tablet app.
I had to tone it down as it was clipping my tablet microphone when a did the quick demo but I usually like to hear power amp crunch so I'll report back. It also depends on speakers used.

HNAD!!

I never cease to be amazed how many amp makers are dropping size and wattage in favor of a gieger counter sized chassis.

Who started the lunchbox head craze? Krank? Blackstar? Orange? or was their a lunchbox head before the Tiny Terror?

The Zvex was the first I am aware of, it preceeds the Krank AFAIK, I remember seeing it mid-90s in guitar mail catalogs.

Yeah, but the Zvex isn't a lunch box head, just a small amp in a pedal.

Measured the mini through 4x12 today, lowest useable sound was about 73-74db on my tablet db meter app. It started to fuzz out if going lower. According to the meter sound level was of phone ringtone.

i will have to see if i can meter my tremoverb, it has the second master and it can sound good very quiet.

from my experience, the dB meter apps i have used haven't always been accurate, even different apps in the same spot and orientation. the phones are different as well as tablets.
