Hi there,

I'm new to guitar and am doing the 1 2 3 4 exercise where you start with your 1st finger on the 1st fret 6th string and run down the first 4 frets until you're at the 4th fret 1st string.

My question is, is it possible or necessary to do this exercise without also touching strings down or under the string you're pressing on? I find it practically impossible sometimes to not touch the other strings without bending my wrist in an uncomfortable way.
