Sisters who set up a lemonade stand to fund a Father’s Day gift on Monday were shut down by the police due to a lack of permit.

Andria Green, 8, and her sister, Zoey, 7, set up the lemonade stand to raise the $105 they needed for tickets to the Texas water park Splash Kingdom. They were selling lemonade for 50 cents and kettle corn for one dollar on their street in the town of Overton, but about an hour after opening, police showed up and told the girls they needed a permit to sell the lemonade. Police agreed to waive the fee of the permit, which normally would cost $150. “The officer told them they had to go to city hall to get a permit,” Overton Police Chief Clyde Carter tells Yahoo Parenting. “Then the city told them they had to check with the health department, which they didn’t do.”

If you do that you're going to wind up getting rid of those little girls, too.
And that is probably meaner than shutting down their lemonade stand.
I have nothing important to say

To be fair, they could've got a permit.

I mean if you go through the proper channels it'll only take a couple of days. That's the problem with the younger generations. So entitled. Jeez, just do it right like everybody else.

Jeez.

I'd like to think that most police officers would have had the sense to get a bit of paper, write out a 'permit', sign it, and then buy some damn lemonade.

In reality, though, I'm just surprised the kids didn't get tazered or shot.

Actually, the law that caused this to happen originated when then Governor George W. Bush took a tough stance against illegal immigrants. He couldn't understand why Lemons were getting aid while being in the country illegally, and said, "if these Lemons need help so badly, they should get it from their own country. It's like they say in Texas, Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me.....you can't get fooled again."

Good. It's not fair that these LIBERALS don't pay their fair share while I have to pay TAXES on my estate. Another win for the RIGHT, GOD BLESS XOXO ~*~*

tbf the police said they'd pay for the permit

It would have been easier if they just gave the girls the $105, then the girls wouldn't have needed to run the lemonade stand, and the police would have saved $45 instead of paying the $150.

On a serious note, at what point do you need a permit then?

I don't think they actually paid the $150. A lot of the time those fees just get waived. Which means no one pays anything.

Part of me wants to justify this but it's tough to do so.

This is the problem with America today.

Bureaucracy has it's reasons people. This lemonade stand was a threat to homeland security, and I bet they were REALLY using the funds to get their Mexican friends across the border.
This is a prime example of why they say "Dont Mess with Texas"
