Really happy I've got the monkey off my back with lyric writing. Here's a second one.

Youth

We both sit asleep on the train.
Both tired of the acting again,
The words that we speak in a slumber so deep,
It's a pity we're never ourselves

At times we were better than friends,
But we know just how that story ends,
The expectations we keep in this open eyed sleep,
Are discouraged by all but ourselves

And the worst part of all this,
Are the loves that we'll both miss,
The time we left slipping away

The sparrow calls in the grey morning,
And the lies that are already dawning,
The 'I told you so's' and the 'too young to know's'
They sank under the sun long ago.

The snapshots of life that we're leaving,
A promise of better times we're believing,
It's too cold outside for wondering why,
We never took care of ourselves

And the worst part of all this,
Are the loves that we'll both miss,
The time we left slipping away

And the worst part of all this,
Is the life that we'll both miss,
We're stuck with ourselves,
When we say 'what the Hell?'
What do they know?
What do they know?

And When we shut off the light,
Say goodbye and goodnight,
When we echo to darkness,
All we hold close is all us,
What do they know?
What do they know?

But we're young and we're reckless,
Strike a match and then light us,
Up into flames,
Up into flames,

What do we know?
What do we know?
