Hi, I have since 7 years a tech21 trademark60. I like the clean channel, but I play with a bsiab (marshall distorsion type) in clean channel, because I like marshall tone so...

worth selling trademark60, and get a Marshall Mosfet lead 100 w or Valvestate?
#2
you want a Marshall then get a tube one. valvestates not really good. Mosfet better but still not up to tube standard for marshall sound.
#4
somebody may be up my ass for saying this, but valvestates are pretty bad. they go cheap for a reason. the MOSFET lead's are better, but i can't say i would ever go and buy one. actually i wouldn't.

i am going to echo the DSL401 or the DSL40c (i prefer the former, but haven't owned either).

good luck!

^ yeah the Lead Mosfet is actually a decent sounding amp, it is a SS JCM800 circuit.

But a DSL401 would be best

I agree with the first sentence, but not the second.

A VS100 would play death metal, not classic Marshall sound.

well, today I played guitar with a drummer bassman and singer, the trademark not sound like a marshall hehehe so...A big volumens the amp sounds well.

So, other guitarrist played with a line6 and I think that its a shit sound

I would buy another amplifier with a marshall sound but without valves

whats wrong with valves? they are no more of an expense than strings and picks are on a guitar. depending on what you are running and how hard you push it, tubes can last a damn long time. you can get at least three years out of power tubes, and preamp tubes can last forever before they die. i have some in one amp that are from '68 and they are great.

they are no more of a hassle than anything else gear related.

Other than like the Lead Mosfet and the Valvestates it won't happen.
Like I said before, these amps are for 90's death metal, not classic Marshall tone.

Try to tell Marshall that, they were not engineered for that at all. They're actually amps with clean/crunch channels too, huge over-generalization. The VS can do clean, blues, rock, metal. If you slap in overdrive in front they'll do death metal, like would a JCM800 as well. Chuck Schuldiner seemed to favor the VS8100 for his work so now every kid reads that and VS8100 = death metal. Total BS!

thank you!

i agree on every count. marshall surely did NOT engineer them for death metal. they were a failure to the brand's 'traditional' or whatever you call it tone. yes chuck from death liked them, but again, the same pedal would have done as well or better on a tube amp.

Buy a JCM2000 DSL401 made after 2003.

MOSFETS are better than Valvestates but they're both rubbish.

I taste a Marshall VS100 and I not like sound, I think sounds very artificial and have very very ugly distortion, indefinite distortion, isnt for me, so...The 5150
