So I decided to build a Strat inspired by Grunge/90s, kinda like a cross between Jerry Cantrell's G and Ls and Kurt Cobain's Strats and Fenders.

I had a Squier body which I'm using and I got some more parts in today.

I went for that Cantrell vibe with the single humbucker Strat look but a Cobain aesthetic with the scratchplate and backplate.

I blocked off the tremolo with some cork as I've seen some people do before

But unfortunately, the backplate doesn't line up completely so I'm unsure what to do about that. Either way, it'll have to come off during re stringing but unsure on the orientation so far.

But anyway, seems like a fun little project and hopefully it'll look and sound great when it's done.

Killswitch and Seymour Duncan JB inevitable.

How do you insert images properly?

I'd advise using a 3rd party host like tinypic or imgur. I think imgur might be better for creating albums and the like.

use the "insert image" button on your posting/editing panel. yellow sky and gray mountain button on the left side of the http link button. the images need to be hosted somewhere. grab the linking code from the host and paste it into the box.

looks nice so far!

perhaps a pic of the cover in place over the cavity?. it seems like the middle screws aren't in alignment but that can be fixed. just plug and re-drill those. is your concern about the string changing slot? hard to tell without it overlaid upon the pocket. show us.

The Killswitch also arrived and I want to put that where the second pot hole is. Presumably I can just drill a bigger hole in the scratchplate to accommodate this?

Neither the backplate screws or cavity lined up so I put a piece of plastic underneath to make it look a bit nicer IMO, and if I ever gig this guitar then I'll be taking the plate off anyway. I also need to block the other half of the tremolo as pointed out to me, cheers! (I'm a N00b and 15- this is my first build!)

Yes, carefully.

Looking good

I think its better to block the tremolo with solid blocks of wood as Ippon shows above. Will increase sustain and will level the bridge.
