I want to repaint my affinity strat right. To do that I need to remove all the components to get the wood body by itself. The thing is, the input jack is connected to a pot and I have to disconnect it in order to remove everything. I don't have a soldering iron so I can't unsolder, take the wire off, then resolder it back on. this brings me to my question: is it ok to cut the wire somewhere along the middle and reconnect it with a wire nut and put electrical tape around it? What risks does that pose? Is it dangerous to my guitar? That's how they wire up houses so it should be safe right? I just want to know what difference it'll male to the sound and the guitar as a whole. Thanks

That will work. But soldering irons are really cheap so that would be better.

I know they're pretty cheap but I'll have to order one online and to do that I need to ask my father for permission. So why do that when I can just work with what I already have, you know?

Learn to solder young man, learn to solder.

I would if I had a soldering iron. This is just temporary until I get one
