Hey folks,

Here's a really Heavy Metal/Stoner Rock original song, driven by a grueling maniacal guitar riff, urgent drum fills and swirling in feedback and twists.
We tried blending Black Sabbath & Queens of the Stone Age with our own touch. Now theirs no vocals as we are currently looking for a singer, but it is an experimental rock song that I'd appreciate some feedback and constructive criticism on in its instrumental stage.

GEAR USED:

VOX AC30 w/ Blue Alnico Speakers
Mexican Fender Strat
BOSS BD-2
JH1 Wah-Wah and Fuzzface

Plus a standard drum kit and bass rig. We recorded every instrument 1 at a time with a single SM57 into a $99 Steinberg Interface.
For those conditions, we think it turned out pretty good!

Hey man,

Intro takes a bit to build up, but I like the sloppy/gritty/bluesey feel of the next riff. Sort of Queens/Brant Bjork feel to it. Needs a singer way to badly, they complete songs like this. The climb around 1:15 really caught me off guard but sounds good enough. VEry solid jam in E, I just wish there was a separate bass line going on as it needs a bit more to fill in the gaps. The riff around 2:30 is a nice change. Most stoner rock is repetitive but I almost wish you kept this as two separate songs. Trippy solo right before 4mins. I like this section of the song much more than the first, very jammy, and more QOTSA than the first half which was much more early Sabbath. Could see Ozzy or Homme esque vocals working VERY well. Nice ending as well, that riff is easily my favorite. Reminds me of Sleep. Very genre fitting! I like what I've heard man! If you want to hear more stoner rock definetly check out my channel!

Thanks for the feedback man, I tried to keep it interesting by adding lots of different riffs & changes. That was the sound I was going for, Osbourne/Homme vocals, hopefully I'll be able to get a singer with that ability soon. Will check out your work!

Hey man, this is pretty good, not gonna lie. Although I agree with the above poster when he says it could quite easily be two different songs; although it is only a demo, so obviously you'll be able to improve it. A singer would be really good, as would maybe having some guitar overlays in the verses to compliment the main riff. The drums are pretty good as well. As it is, though, it's a really good base that I'm sure a great song will come out from.

Feel free to check out my demo at https://soundcloud.com/owen-stubbs/nothing-left-to-lose-demo , cheers

Aliens attacking at the start!

Good track although I struggle to keep my attention going for songs without vocals personally. Only so much guitar noodle I can stand (but that is just me, there are those out there who dig this!)

With some of the riffs, bending one of the notes out of tune, especially on the intro, would make a really cool effect to the vibe and give you the more Black Sabbath sounding vibe.

Other than that, cool track, great riffs. Well done man!
