Hi i'm looking for a used cabinet for my laney LH50 that i just bought. A 2x12. I mainly play Tool and i want to have a lot of low and mid. Thanks I live in the area of montreal

Here the used cab i have found... (that seems legit)
- Mesa express 3/4 openback 2x12 (C90 and Sheffield 5150) : 350$ cad
- Marshall 1936 with 2 Celestion V30s : 500$

I think that the mesa rectifier 2x12 cab would be the way to go but didnt find any used one and they cost 725 cad $ new.... What do you think of the marshall 1936 with V30s?

Where are you located?

About a week ago I turned down a 4x12 loaded with V30's (I've got too many now) for $200.

An openback 2x12 is not going to give you a "lot of low and mid."
I think the Marshall 1936 with V30's is seriously overpriced.

Check out the Avatar G212 Traditional with V30's. New, it's $377. http://avatarspeakers.com/home/product/special-g212-traditional/ Their "vintage" model G212 Vintage with a pair of V30's is $449. NEW. Quality is outstanding (better than that on the Marshall). I would, honestly, order the Vintage model with a pair of Hellatone 60's. These are real Vintage 30's that have been put through a "breaking in" process, then re-stickered by Avatar. V30's change their sound noticeably once broken in.

Honestly, if I were going for a lot of "low and mid" i'd probably consider a Mesa Thiele 1x12 cabinet with a single EV-L. You can buy the cabinets unfinished or already tolexed from several vendors. If you know a decent carpenter, the plans are freely available as well.

Montréal. I'm talking in canadian dolar. that why it seems overpriced. I have looked at avatar and even with the big sale they re doing on the 2x12 it is still 560$ cad because of the shipping that is like 100usd if not more...

Have a look at a Traynor Darkhorse 212 at L&M:

It does have Greenbacks but I've found it to have plenty of punch and rumble, plus you can open up the back to give you a little more tonal variation.

i could be wrong, but i think the newer 1936s are plywood (which is normally what you want) whereas the older ones weren't. I'm not sure exactly when they changed, though.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

The rectifier cab is the better built cab, but the Sheffield speaker sucks, so factor in another $150 for a V30 or another decent speaker on top of the cab price
