On the come up we were listening to Grateful Dead and the music started passing through my bowel and out my arsehole as this violet stream of light. I shat music. It was beautiful.

Michael Crichton books are my favorite. And they all fit in to at least 4 of those categories, if not more.

I like informational books such as encyclopedias, textbooks, and "_____ For Dummies." I'm not really interested in any other type of book.

I mostly read fantasy. Post-apocalyptic stuff is probably the best, although I need to find more to read.
I have nothing important to say

Have you read The Passage? As far as recent stuff goes, that's one of the better post apocalyptic stories.

For me, it's either that as well or whatever genre you'd consider Terry Pratchett. Fantasy-comedy?

I haven't read the Passage, I'll check it out next time I need some new reading material

"The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" is a great sci-fi book. I thought at first that the author (Robert Heinlein) seemed to spend lots of time describing unimportant details which can be tiring, but after a while I realized that he did this to build a visual of the sort of world (or moon rather) that the book took place in.

"Stranger in a Strange Land" is another that you might enjoy if you liked Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and its also by Heinlein. This one doesn't follow the rules of reality that much, whereas Moon is a Harsh Mistress has a more realistic setting.
