I'm not really a big Sci-Fi guy, but I really do love 2001: A Space Odyssey and don't get tired of watching it. One of my all time favorite movies and definitely my favorite Sci-Fi.

I don't know if it's technically Sci-Fi but the new Jurassic World was really good, even though it was kind of predictable and unoriginal. Still a lot of fun watching.

I've always felt like the original Star Wars trilogy is good, but not the God-tier films they're made out to be. Not even close. And in that same vein of thought, the prequels weren't amazing but they weren't the total shitfest people make them out to be. If you don't take them too seriously I think they're all fun movies to watch. I actually thought Episode III had a pretty good story.

My least favorite Sci-Fi is Interstellar. I have a preoccupying hatred of that movie and most of the stuff Christopher Nolan does for that matter.

Favorite: Terminator 2
Honorable mentions: Pacific Rim, Gravity (does that count?), Mad Max 2 and 4 (do these count?) GATTACA, Judge Dredd

Most hated: kinda stumped on this one but I'm sure there's lots I don't like

I want to say LOTR but that's not scifi. Did Peter Jackson do any scifi movies? If so, probably those. Transformers and new Star Wars of course but those are too easy.

...modes and scales are still useless.

I like Inception, that's sci-fi or close enough.

Least favorite is Avatar.

My favourite is probably Interstellar. I don't know what my least favourite is. Additionally, I don't know to what extent the genre classifies films as "sci-fi." Would superhero films be sci-fi?

Favorite probably Looper. Or if it counts, maybe Limitless.
Don't have a least favorite.

Oh, yeah, the Michael Bay's Transformers are awful. They're one of those things I love but also hate (I think I talk about this too much. I'm surprised I haven't started a thread on it). I recently watched the newest installment on Netflix and it was awful, but I will probably never pass on watching any of them. Something about robots fighting is cool no matter how bad everything else is.

Star Wars is the best but it transcends genre so I'll think of another.

Star Trek Into Darkness is definately a recent one that earned my intense hatred.

Serenity was pretty awesome
Metropolis update with the 80s music was cool.
Back to the Future 1&2
Planet of the Apes original

Peter Jackson did District 9 if no one answered that question.

Oh shit... YES

Fuck Avatar. What a POS.

Throw in the Avengers and just about all other modern superhero trash in there while you're at it.

The effects and editing are so bad and uninteresting that they completely decimate any excitement or impact of giant robots fighting.

Pacific Rim on the other hand...

...modes and scales are still useless.

No he didn't... he was just a name attached to the movie to warm up a newcoming director.

But actually, you just reminded me what a disappointment Elysium was. It was so unremarkable.

I always enjoy the effects, I think they're great but have grown a bit stale after four films. Maybe they're not bad and I'm too busy focusing on Optimus Prime's cheesy one-liners in succession ("Give me your face" LOL).

This scene tho, top keks.

Does Eternal Sunshine count as sci fi? Because GOAT film like hella

Barely... although I guess it does have a sci-fi device driving the plot.

I thought District 9 was decent

Didn't see Elysium

Anybody seen this on The Zohar Secret ???
Looks interesting

Max finds himself in possession of an ancient scroll that describes the entire history of humankind from beginning to end. Seeking to use the information for his own gain, Max triggers the mechanism that begins influencing his own life.

"Over 1300 people from 54 countries took part in this unique project. Just the Battle of Borodino scene alone had 5000 extras."

Starship troopers is pretty cheezy great.

Then in no particular order, Alien/s, Bladerunner, starwars, Serenity, snowpiercer, Prestige? if it counts, Moon

Then some cartoon ones, Transformers (original 80s cartoon movie), Titan AE, and Final Fantasy: the spirits within (don't hate)

That's all I can think of right now

also of course 2001. Also just thought of Mad max 1&2 plus maybe fury rd, haven't seen it yet. They're not really hard sci-fi, but I think they can count

After this post you are dead to me.

Star Wars is straight up trash Sci Fi. Parsecs as units of time? Garbage.

Interstellar is highest level sci-fi.
