Curious about swapping out one of the greenbacks in my AC30C2 and putting in a Celestion Alnico Blue in. A few questions...

I presume wattage load will be okay. I did read that the AC30C2 puts out nearly 40w RMS on the VOX showroom site. 25 from the Greenback + 15 from the Blue = 40 so. Not sure how true that is though. And of course I know to get the right impedance.

As far as volume, will one be overly louder than the other? I want to mic just the Blue, so I don't want the Greenback to be super loud for the Blue to get up to micable volumes. If the Blue is louder than the Greenback that is fine.

No if you mix speakers you will have one 25 watts and one 15watts and combined you can handle only 30watts. You take the lowest wattage speaker x the number of speakers

the G12m25 is 98dB and the Blue is 100dB so they should pair OK since they are only 2dB difference.

You can't just add the watt ratings. The amp sends half the power to each speaker, it can't "know" to send more to the higher rated one. So the power handling in a 2x12 is two times the rating of the lowest rated speaker. That said, the blue is 100% fine with an AC30. It's probably the most archetypal speaker-amp pair there is, and has been for 50 years. We'd know by now if they were incompatible.

The blue is louder than the greenback.

So would a 4x12 cab with two 50w speakers and two 25w speakers actually only able to handle 100w?

yes, because it would still be evenly dividing its output power between all speakers.
