Hey all,

Recently when I was browsing Gumtree I found a Tokai Silver Star SS60 for $500. It appears to be in good nick and from 79-82, which I am told are the best years for Tokai strats. I am aiming for a SRV-esque guitar. Do you think it would be worth the buy?
Link to the page (There are sound samples too)- http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hoppers-crossing/guitars-amps/tokai-silver-star-stratocaster-vintage-japan/1061322223

Thanks,
Nick

have you checked the tokai registry forum? they know way more than I do and can tell you if it's legit (a lot of tokais end up being actually partscasters or even fakes), whether it's a good price, etc.

it seems to be sold, though. for future reference, though, that forum is really good for questions like this about japanese guitars.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Wow, that was some pretty awful timing! Thanks for pointing me to that forum, I'll definitely use that for help in the future.
