Has anyone tried this?

Not playing both guitars at once, but I keep two guitars on stage all the time, one with humbuckers, the other is single coils. I'd like to be able to quickly swap between the guitars without having to unplug and whatnot, instead of using one guitar throughout the night and the other just being a backup.

Could I use a two female 1/4" to single male 1/4"? Or better yet, an a/b switch?

get an ABY switch and run backwards

AB switch will also work

What's the difference between a/b and a/b-y?

Also why would I need to run it backwards? It should work forwards?

The ABY allows you to choose a or b and also a/b at the same time You want an AB box unless your trying to get 2 guitars to play at the same time.

Backwards because they have an input and 2 outputs, an A and a B. since your using 2 guitars and 1 amp you want one guitar running into a and one to B because the input (which becomes the output in this configuration) would go to the amp input.

if you were running 1 guitar to 2 amps then you would run the pedal normal

sorry if I'm confusing you, but it will work. I advise you get a passive AB box

if you go with the PitchBlack+ tuner it's one less pedal to buy, lug around, break, etc!
