At what point is it no longer ok to be a fan of someone's work? Should I not enjoy or support Louis CK anymore because of the rumors he's a perv? How about Bill Cosby? Tim Lambesis or Varg? Michael Jackson? Should I not listen to Gaza because the lead singer is probably a rapist?

Is it possible for a person's work to be viewed completely seperately from their personal life? If so, is supporting them financially still a morally wrong thing to do?

I still like the art, for these people accused of things. I wasn't there and did not witness what they were accussed of, don't know them personally to make a judgment on their personal character.
Weird though, I can't listen to Kanye West just because he acts like such a douche but if someone accused him of being a pervert it wouldn't affect my view of him at all.

Real annoying.
Give it time though, someone will eventually accuse Kanye of doing some unforgivable creepy shit.
#6
I wouldn't know, like I said. His douchebaggery ruins his otherwise decent music for me.
#7
In terms of art, I think it should be completely separate.

If someone's work directly funding like child pornography, I wouldn't buy it. A lot of people are douchebags but it gets overlooked as time passes. Eventually the work is all that's left anyway

I mean, if someone choose to no longer have any contact with someone's work for something like that then it's whatev to me.

I actually put it on to place the piano sample. Turns out it's an Aphex Twin song, and it was in Four Lions. Which is why I looked it up
My God, it's full of stars!

The problem is thinking that a bad aspect of those artists is all they are. Don't stand for or support what they did, but don't let it be their defining aspects.

He gave us Billie Jean, you say he touched those kids?

But yeah I added him because I wanted someone that was more in the grey than the others

CKs an interesting one on that list because any specifics are from terrible sources that I dont believe at all but theres an interview that another comedian did where she basically said that hes a known perv and theres a lockdown on saying anything about him. She didnt even address him directly but it was obviously directed towards him.

It just worried me that hed turn out to be kind of a Cosby because CKs kind of my hero because he just seems to understand people so well. But on the flip side I'm also wondering if I should even really care about his personal life.

Either way for now it's not much to go off of so it's not much to worry about.

Of course you can view somebody's work as separate from their personal life, and it only ever doesn't work when somebody does something bad, nobody is every like hanging up giant 5 year old level crayon drawing prints in their living room because the dude that made it saved a kitten or two. It's always just ohh this person did great artistic thing but I think they're kind of a dick so I'm gonna shut down to it and call their art trash garbage.

Depends what they did

personally I could never listen to lostprophets again because what he did was gross and I don't want that mans voice in my ear

but if T Swift beat someone up I'd still listen to her

but if she raped a baby then no

This is the first time I've heard about this, but it really makes me kinda sad to hear

How is there a lockdown on talking about it though, are they gonna get fired from being comedians if they say something?

From what I've just quickly read, it's because the whole comedy circuit is connected pretty much.
You talk smack about a big comedian, and their manager will make sure that you can't get any gigs at good places, by telling those places the big comedian won't play there anymore if the smack talker plays there.

Yeah I still like a couple of lostprophets songs but I don't want to do anything that would give Ian Watkins any money. Still fine with the other guys in the band profiting off of their work though.

there's a few things that I hate because of what it is. Michael Bay is a boring director, but I don't hate him. He makes really good box office films. They're just boring. But the one I hate most is Pain & Gain. It was hilarious, until I saw that it was a real thing, and actual people died, and the film makes all the deaths into comedy. And I think that's too far.

but for the most part, I don't care about the artist and if I ike something I like it
it's all just coming back
it's all coming back

it's all coming back to me
