Just got a new neck to put on my m-10 and it didnt come with a nut.
I'm not sure if that space is meant for locking nuts since it seems to big for a nut to go over it.

can anyone help me out with the photo and tell me what its meant to take?

The guitar im putting it on doesnt have a floating bridge. So just put the locking nut at the top but no need to tighten the actual nuts into the plate?

Yep. That's what I do with my two hardtailed Ibanezes anyway!
Make sure the nut is at the right height though, because you can't file it easily.

^^^^ I did one once. getting the nut slot height right is a pain. If I was doing it again, I would be looking at a non-metal alternative.

such as what?

There's a type of ebanol nut that's designed to work in the slot for a locking nut. No idea if they're any good though
