At work I had to bend the clip on a customer's input jack so it would clamp on the cable. Tonight at a practice, I think the same thing happened with my Digitech Drop, the clip was loose. It had been sitting at a bad angle, the cable had to lift it a bit. I noticed that just recently.

I tried a different cable and it worked properly. I compared the ends of my first cable, where it didn't work, and then the ends of the new cable. The new cable had a bigger/wider connection tip.

Firstly, I am a little frustrated that (I think) the Drop needs some input work, and as I tried to look at it, it's impossible to get into. Secondly, I'm curious if these cable ends would help:

I saw these in a catalog at the music store recently. I thought it was a good concept but wasn't too driven to buy a cable. Maybe the ends themselves, though.

Of course it's not actually fixing the original problem, but I really can't seem to get into the Drop. I've made another cable with a different end which seems to work better. I've also put some extra bumpers on the unit.

I did buy one of those cables to try it out. But I'd like to buy just the plugs, but D'addario doesn't seem to sell them. Any other plugs like this?

all you need is: http://btpa.com/CA-0446.html and http://btpa.com/285L.html

stupid cheap, and awesome. i use those switchcraft plugs, as well as the 90* and pancake.

the cable is spec'd pretty well too and i have never had a problem.

^That looks interesting. I'll look into it. Although all I really need are straight and right angles.

I did order 10 feet of CA-0446 and the 285L, for my guitar to pedalboard run, since that was the main problem. If it works well I'll get more and some of the pedalboard-gauge cable and some right angles.

you will like it. i have a total of 50 feet, and about 50+ ends (total), and i have a lot of soldering to do still. i will have about 18 patch cables when i am done (most 6" but a couple 9" and a couple 16"), and various runs for everything else, specific to amps and lengths for effects loops.
