Been playing for 17 years, never bought pickups. I barely ever use overdrive so I'm after some pickups to improve the clean sound of my vintage vs6. Considering lipstick bucked in the neck with a coil tap as I had a danelectro and that was perfect for what I'm playing aside from the slightly eexcessive trebly twang. I have no idea, help?

the pickups in the vintage should be pretty decent? the wilkinson ones aren't too bad I think- not amazing but decent.

what amp are you using? that affects how you sound a lot.

that being said, if you know you love the sound of lipsticks (i've never tried lipsticks I don't think ), I'm not sure any amp is going to achieve that tone either, so it may well be worth considering a swap anyway. Just you'd need to check they fit into a regular strat-sized pickup route.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

I would try taking the covers off them for a start, that should brighten them up, then I would add single/series/parallel switching or just single/series.

If that wasn't enough I would go for uncovered vintage style humbuckers, something like SD Jazz. I have these in two guitars, both position, one with coil switching to brighten it up and get single coil-like sounds.

^ The vs6 is the strat copy
