Hi guys

I've acquired the Randall RH150G3 head from a friend about 2 years ago. The head was in a really good state and it worked perfectly. Recently though it has started to hum pretty loudly after you turn it on. At first the hum is almost inaudlible but then it grows in volume and you just can't play anymore. Turning up or down the master volume does not affect the hum's loudness.

You guys got any clues to what this could be? I have no previous experience with heads so I'm clueless here

Thanks in advance!

Try plugging in a different outlet, if it has removable power cord, try using different power cord.

There is a single 12AT7 tube used in part of the power section. Maybe that tube is going bad?

You can always clean all of the input jacks and FX jacks with contact cleaner - spray a cable and then insert into the jack a few times.

Thank you so much for the answers! I tried all the power cords options but the problem persisted, also cleaned the jacks but to no avail. I got a new tube and now everything seems to be working fine!

Once again, thank you for your time and knowledge!

Cheers

OT, but does anyone know what the tube actually does? I had one years ago, and never knew what it did.

Amp is long gone. I don't really miss it though.
