so when i got out of the hospital months back, i told myself that i couldn't listen to carissa's wierd for a long time. since i wanted to get better, and cw has a knack of always crushing my everything, i'd be best putting them off for a while. it is likely that many of you will remember my appreciation for them. within a few months i found a band that was lo-fi and rough and unashamedly pathetic and sad and that resonated with me cause that was me. so this was my favourite band that i was telling myself i couldn't listen to.

i went to listen to them tonight, skipped around a few tracks until i found a few favourites. it just didn't work. it just felt hollow and empty. sort of the idea that the part of me that liked cw is gone. like looking at a photograph of golden sunset that you took years ago, and you can remember taking the photo but the feeling is empty. i'm not confused that i can't get sad by listening to cw again, and i'm not sad that i can't get sad by listening to them. but it's just like that realisation that that specific set of feelings is lost to me.

this is a dumb thread

tl;dr- blog about realising the past is empty or something?
it's all just coming back
it's all coming back

it's all coming back to me

I know exactly what it's like. Certain songs and certain bands become "the soundtrack" for a particular period in one's life.

I had the same experience with some songs and bands to which I could relate to during the times of feeling like crap, falling in love... And after the state of mind I was experiencing would pass, these songs/bands wouldn't resonate with me the same they used to. It sucks, but that means that you've changed in some ways (hopefully for the better) and that's it. It's hard, but really the only thing you can do about it is to accept the way things are now and try to move on.
Who knows, you may "rediscover" the band later down the road, whether it be by reverting to your former self or by starting to approach to their music from a new perspective.

I could write more about this, but unfortunately I have to study and I have better things to do than trying to bring myself down by taking a stroll down the memory lane.

Ekstaza smrti - Ecstasy of Death

Everything is ecstasy, ecstasy of death!
Golden towers of western Europe,
the white domes - (everything is ecstasy!) -
Everything is sinking in the burning, red sea;
the sun is setting and a thousand times dead European man
is intoxicating in it.
- Everything is ecstasy, ecstasy of death. -

Beautiful, oh beautiful will be the death of Europe;
like a luxurious gold queen
she will lay down in the coffin of dark centuries,
she will die quietly, like an old queen
would close her golden eyes.
- Everything is ecstasy, ecstasy of death. -

From an evening cloud (the last messenger,
that is still announcing a light to Europe!)
there’s blood pouring into my tired heart,
oh dear, and there is no water in Europe anymore
and we people are drinking blood,
fresh blood from the sweet evening clouds.
- Everything is ecstasy, ecstasy of death. -

Barely born, and you are already burning in the fire of the evening,
every sea is red, every sea
is full of blood, every lake, and there’s no water;
no water to wash that man’s fault,
to wash his heart,
there is no water to extinguish his thirst for quiet,
green morning nature.

And everything is evening and there will be no morning,
until we die, we who all carry
the guilt of dying,
until we all die…

Oh, and even into this landscape, even into this green,
fresh green landscape,
you, evening sun, you will shine
your burning rays? Even into this?

Now sea is flooding green landscapes,
the sea of burning evening blood,
and there is no solution,
until we fall, me and you,
until we fall, me and you all,
until we die under the weight of blood.

The sun will shine his golden rays on us, the European corpses.

I'm sorry what are we talking about?

When he wrote it possibly, he died at 22 but in that short time managed to produce enough drafts and work to become an icon of Slovene modernism and poetry in general. Certainly in the top three Slovene authors of all time.

A lot of literature professors claim that had he survived meningitis and continued his work he would have surely taken the place of France Prešeren as our greatest poet.

This used to remind me of my ex (oh, teenage romances and their turbulence!). I got over it and now I just appreciate it in a different way. That's about as dynamic as I get tbh. I learned not to fall in love the second time around.

I've since taken on a more... temporary view of the world. Pleasure resides in the impermanence it suffers. Better to feel even anguish over the knowledge that a moment will be forever lost than to have it gradually fade and die from over-exposure.

I was trying to find Kosovel's translated work and found this. It is good day.

Bori, bori v tihi grozi,
bori, bori v nemi grozi,
bori, bori, bori, bori!

Bori, bori, temni bori
kakor stražniki pod goro
preko kamenite gmajne
težko, trudno šepetajo.

Kadar bolna duša skloni
v jasni noči se čez gore,
čujem pritajene zvoke
in ne morem več zaspati.

"Trudno sanjajoči bori,
ali umirajo mi bratje,
ali umira moja mati,
ali kliče me moj oče?"

Brez odgovora vršijo
kakor v trudnih, ubitih sanjah,
ko da umira moja mati,
ko da kliče me moj oče,
ko da so mi bolni bratje.

Google translate it or something.

Europe is dying. The League of nations and the pharmacy each is a lie. Operations. Revolutions! I am standing on a grey road. Brown leaves are falling from the trees. There is only one thing I fear: that when these trees are black and bare and the fields and small houses are grey, and I scream, everything, everything around will be silent.

Political absolutism has been putting pressure on the worn out Europe. For the very last time it wants to capture the half-dead, weary Man who no longer has any blood in order to bleed. After it has drained people of power It wants to reign, enslave them. This is why Europe is dying.
