Hey Musicians of Ultimate Guitar,

I needed a new amp for my guitar for my guitar for a recent gig and since I was on a budget I grabbed a pretty sweet Carvin sx 300 half stack thats 280 watts. It worked well for my concert and was worth the purchase. It's a pretty good amp but I'm looking to upgrade it since its like meh quality and its from the 90s. I was wondering if I could replace the amp head with a much nicer head like a Marshall or something like that and use it with my Carvin 280 watt cabinet until I save up enough to replace the cabinet as well. Or do I need to replace both at the same time?
Thanks,
Ian
