Budget - 250 CAD

Favorite Artists- Slash feat Myles kennedy, AC-DC, avenged sevenfold, metallica, guns n roses, alter bridge (probably most favorite), foo fighters

Preference - i am more comfortable with 24 frets. Everything else I am fine with.

Pickups - I lean towards humbuckers but I dont mind trying others.

Location - Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Current gear - Cort x6 and Fender mustang v2

I need to buy cheap guitar as I moved here from India and left my gear there. I can not spend much here on guitar so please help and suggest some please.

Thanks

I would look for a used Godin (or their subsidiary, Richmond) of some kind, probably with 2 HBs or HSS. Godin is a Canadian brand, and they're generally well made.

A Godin Richmond Empire or Godin SD, LG or Redline HB might be available in your price range, though I think only the Redline is a 24 feet guitar.

I am getting this one for 225$. I do not know much about strat and I was wondering whether this is good enough or not? Also as you suggested I found some used godins.

Maybe something by Ibanez? I got a decent Ibanez S770FM for around that price range back in 2010.

EDIT: Oh, CAD. That changes things. The Ibanez was twice that prize...

Take a tour through Rondo Music. They've got some SX guitars that are surprisingly good for that kind of money. www.rondomusic.com

Thanks man. I was looking for something local as well. This seems nice. Also, could you tell what strat is that from the pictures? It says epiphone. But I do not know the model. I am getting that one for 180 CAD. is the price right? should I just go for it?

I don't know the Epiphone that well. They're a pretty decent brand, but they're better known for their Gibson-type designs than Fender clones.

I probably wouldn't go for that Harmony, but all of those Godins look decent. I actually have had that quilted one on my watch list on eBay or Reverb.

Thanks guys for all your help. Currently I am going for this guitar that i found only for 50 CAD. I will be saving up some money and will buy a better guitar probably after 6 months.

btw this is the guitar. I have not seen this modek though. May be its discontinued.

Personally, I don't usually buy cheap guitars. I understand having a budget and satisfying needs, wants & desires, but in my experience, most cheap guitars are cheap for a reason. IOW, they're deeply flawed in some way.

You're usually better off saving money and increasing your budget.

A picture of the back of the headstock would help. Its an ibanez RG of some sort, maybe 270, 320??? I wonder if that sticker is covering up an empty single coil?
Gibson LP traditional and DC standard, PRS S2 Custom 24, MIA Standard Strat, Schecter Banshee 7
EVH 5153, Orange TV50H 2-2x12's
Line 6 M13

Looks like a really crusty RG320.

The Floyd that's in it probably doesn't work.

Do you even know what a Floyd Rose is?
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Omae wa mou

Well I do not know the technical meaning of the floyd rose bridge but I do have an idea about how that works. BTW the guy said that it does work and from the looks of it, it seems to me that its working. The strings are pretty tight though. Its making the strings harder to bend actually. But for 50 CAD, its an really amazing guitar.

The back only reads two 'C' letters. They are mirror of each other and it reads made in China. It does nor have any model number. That was the first thing I checked actually.

Also the guitar has 3 way switch and its seems to me that the Pick ups have been changed from the default ones.

Are the knife edges of the bridge worn out or chewed up? If they are, the Floyd is never going to stay in tune and a Floyd that doesn't stay in tune is useless.

The knife edges are the areas on the bridge's baseplate that hinge on the posts.

Turns out the sticker is covering up an empty place for the single coil. So I guess the guitar is RG 370. The pick ups have been changed though from the looks of it.

The amp goes directly into the wall socket. You do not need batteries.

I did not know that. The knife edges are a little worn out but I would not say too much. But then again I just found out about knife edges. Do you need me to post a close up picture of the floyd?
