Noticed this, what do you guys think about it? I just thought it was strange that I could hypothetically get a hybrid open or closed back cabinet with a celstion vintage 30 made of 13 ply birch for £70 less than an orange ppc112 despite it being pretty much the exact same specs although the ppc doesn't have the open or closed back option. I guess you can "make" it open back but that's not as convenient as already having a board you can screw on the back or have it off. Do you think orange are making you pay for the name (I mean, it is like a legendary cab) or there's some craftsmanship that creates the £70 divide?

I find it quite interesting, anyone got any experience with montage cabs or at least have some speculation on the matter?

I guess so, £70 markup ain't so bad for brand name. There's worse *COUGHCOUGH* apple *cough*.

i haven't tried the 1x12 but the 2x12s are quite nice. I thought mine maybe rattled a little, though I have them stacked and it only seemed to start when I did that, so that might be something to do with it.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Well if the 2x12s are dece then I guess the 1x12 should be fine. Maybe the stack rattling is one cab wobbling on top of the other? That's only a guess though.

I would speculate that the difference in price is due largely to the branding. Cabinets are, after all, just a matter of carpentry. OTOH, ask Cathbard about exploding cabinets

Yeah, the lesson there is "never buy an Ashdown bass cab"

it could well be- i never noticed it before i stacked them

that being said, other things can rattle too. though it might just be a loose screw or a speaker cable (inside the cabinet, I mean) or something like that.

So what I'm getting from this is it's most probably just a brand name price increase and that I should research as to whether or not the cab literally explodes. Good.

Still, orange cabs do look sexy. £70 for a bit of sunshine never goes wrong. K, now this sounds like drugs.
