So I've been interested in live looping for a while, and I've finally got almost all the gear. Right now my setup is guitar to M Audio M Track to computer (with ableton) to speakers. It's excellent and totally free of latency.

However, for an actual performance people have suggested, after ableton, a reamp back into my amp. Is this really necessary, or could I get a high quality monitor and replace my stock computer speakers with this? Eg Guitar, M Audio, Ableton -- monitor.

relatively simple question, hard to find the answers to

A pair of monitor speakers would work just fine.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

Great! Thank you all, saved me a lot of time, money, and complications!

Now, any suggestions as to a nice bang-for-your buck moniter?

Depends on how much money you wanna spend really.

On the cheap, a pair of JBL LSR305 will do.
Wanna spend more?
Yamy HS8.
Wanna spend even more?
Genelec 8060.
