Hey guys,

I recently mixed a live show that was 5 acoustic acts playing with just 1 DI acoustic guitar track and one vocal track.

I experimented with using some very tight settings on a reverb channel and EQing it to taste in order to replicate the natural resonance you get from an acoustic guitar. The idea was that I could get rid of some of that horrible boxy piezo sound and get more of an in-the-room sound.

It turned out sounding great after a bit of tweaking.

Here's a video I did on getting a similar sound in the studio.

Here's a blog I wrote on what I did in the venue to get that sound.

What techniques do you use outside of standard EQ and compression to get your acoustic guitars to really pop?
