Amplitube3 and ezdrummer 2 all come with standalone recording software and my question is do people record in standalone and then transfer it to there draw plugin - like pro tools or ableton live ? Also wondering if they would be any benefit to using the standalone software to record ?
Yes once you bring into a DAW like Reaper ( or what ever ) you have all you timing and FX etc all contained in a single file,. EASY..

Working outside a DAW would be VERY complicated
just covering the basic's recording, Mixing, adding Effects, Edited, Saving and Archiving. ? all very hard Outside a DAW... plus all the joy and options a DAW gives.
The only reason these programs supply their own DAW is for those who don't have other recording software. Definitely use it as a plugin in dedicated DAWs or suffer the headaches.
