My selector switch on my Vox SSC33 does not stay in place and needs to be replaced. I have been looking to replace it but prices are all over the place. At the top end is DiMarzio Three Position On/On/On 4PDT Pickup Selector Switch http://www.musiciansfriend.com/potentiometers-knobs-for-fretted-instruments/dimarzio-three-position-on-on-on-4pdt-pickup-selector-switch?rNtt=Three%20Position%20pickup%20selector&index=3

And then https://www.allparts.com/Switches_c_496-2-3.html with much cheaper switches. My first question is what is the difference and the second I have seen the DiMario with On/on/on and On/Off/on. What is up with that?

I see many different switches by following the allparts link, so I don't really know how to help you on that

on/on/on means you have a a certain number of terminals that are always connected to other terminals (for example, with a SP3T switch, in position 1 t1 is connected to t2, in position 2 t1 is connected to t3, in position 3 t1 is connected to t4), while in an on/off/on switch there's a position in which t1 isn't connected to anything.

You'll want an on/on/on switch.
Name's Luca.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

The easiest thing to do is check the switch in your guitar for a part number. If it has one, Google that number (you might need to add the term switch) and also run it through Amazon, Guitar Center, StewMac, and Philadelphia Luthier Supply. If you can find the same part buy it, and then just move the wires from the old switch to the new switch one-by-one.

That is a great idea. Thanks!. Should I replace the switch myself or have a shop do it. My guitar is really pretty and I don't want to mar it in any way.
