For a couple years, a buddy of mine and I have been trying to write a Christmas song for the state of Maine (Vacationland). It's a bit early, but here it is...

Christmas in Vacationland

The cat just knocked the angel off the Christmas tree
I wonder if a present under there's for me
If the neighbors call the cops like they did last year
We'll just tell 'em all we're spreading Christmas cheer
Leaving St. Nick a couple cold Bud Lights
Hoping uncle Eddie doesn't start no fights
Turkey TV dinners 'round the football game
Some families go without, son, it's such a shame

Spread the cheer around

Merry Christmas from the pine tree state
The ice is thin but we all still skate
Buried under six feet of snow
Puttin' up lights around the mobile home
Merry Christmas from Vacationland
All the new toys are in high demand
Grandma's wishin' for a can of Skoal
Kissin' cousins under mistletoe

The lights are blinking and we don't know why
I found a false tooth in my pumpkin pie
The mall is crowded all December long
Who dressed the snowman up in camouflage?
Dad wants a hammer, mom wants diamond rings
Carolers ride door to door on sleds to sing
I hope that old Kris Kringle has a 4x4 sleigh
The snow plows haven't rolled through in a couple of days

Spread the cheer around

Merry Christmas from the pine tree state
The ice is thin but we all still skate
Buried under six feet of snow
Puttin' up lights around the mobile home
Merry Christmas from Vacationland
All the new toys are in high demand
Grandma's wishin' for a can of Skoal
Kissin' cousins under mistletoe
