Hey guys. Got a track here I wrote a year or two ago. Figured I'd throw it up and see what you guys think! The mixing is garbage, I know. If i can find the original tracks (on an old computer that belongs to my father) I am going to go back through and try to EQ it as best I can. Anyhow, here it is!

You, good sir, have not gone over to your friends house after a hard night of drinking to find 2 dudes passed out in the same room both holding their own flaccid cocks in hand, passed out, with porn on the tv.

As you said, the mixing could be better but the writing is good. I really like the leads and how everything comes together at the chugging part. Overall the weakness is just the recording but everything else is great. C4C?

Hey man,

A nicely put together song! You acknowledge that the mixing is not the best and I think that is the biggest drawback. I think the gain on the guitars could be dialled back and they also need to be EQ'ed- some high and low pass filter would be your starting point and would tighten it up. I think a bit more bass would also fill out the low end.

Having said all that, I think the composition is very good and flows nicely. Definitely the style of music I am into. I loved the transition at 1:40 and the use of the electric guitar over the clean part. You also followed that part very nicely into the riff at 2:13. That is a really tasty riff and probably my favourite part. Keep it up!

Hello.

As said above - you know the mix is poor so we'll leave that alone. Composition wise it's really cool. I wouldnt really call it prog - I class it as more of a thrash feel but hey, who cares what you call it if its sweet. The chugging riffs got my head moving and the lead harmonies work perfectly (sort of reminded me of Dethklok in places). The switch to the clean tone worked really well too.

You should definitely re-record this i my opinion. With a good mix this would be a killer track.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm definitely going to aim to record it again since the original tracks are lost forever. I'll get to all the c4cs shortly!

Do you guys have any recommendations for decent free/cheap software other than audacity? Also looking into amp modeling software as well. I sold all my gear and I'd like to simplify the recording setup as much as possible. Pretty much looking to run a clean amp signal into the interface and find my distortion sounds via software.

Ive used REAPER as my DAW for years now and its been great the whole way. Unlimited free trial too. As for amp modelling, Ive used Guitar Rig 4 the whole time and have gotten some killer tones with it (I DI the guitars). Theres a new version for it as well.
