I used to be way more introverted, but I'm slowly gaining a balance.

Just never pictured you as an extravert. I guess maybe it depends wildly on your mood

yeah you could say my mood comes in two...

...poles

but for real if i have to choose between these two options i tend to pick extrovert because whenever i see those "22 things only an introvert could understand" lists i don't really relate.

in fact i just googled that and found this
http://www.buzzfeed.com/erinlarosa/problems-only-introverts-will-understand

1. i only have to 'recharge' because i (sometimes*) get physically exhausted
2. i have never been accused of having a 'resting bitch face'
3. i prefer smaller gatherings but tbh i don't really care
4. even if i don't go to see friends some weekend, there's usually a qt around, and if not, i spend a huge amount of time with my family. actually isolating myself is no good
5. i'm not even remotely insecure about how much time i do or don't spend at home
6. nah
7. i don't feel 'on' or 'off' in that sense. it's natural for me. i feel like this is a crucial thing
8. i rarely if ever cancel plans. i'm careful about making them so i don't disappoint people
9. nah
10. i only dislike group projects because they disrupt my usual individual workflow
11. only because i get criminally bored sometimes*
12. only if i don't like them cause i don't like turning people down
13. i talk a lot
14. nah
15. the dread is left over from a period where i was phone shy. pretty normal for all types of people
16. i don't have a friend like that
17. that's a great cat
18. never had that happen
19. i can relate to this sometimes*, especially the self-imposed isolation in the last panel of the comic. i tend to experience derealization and depersonalization at inconvenient times.
20. i get really bothered by some mundane sounds and not others. i haven't totally figured it out yet, but in general it has nothing to do with volume. in fact, i prefer the sounds of school hallways etc when working. silence ends up distracting me.
21. i do daydream a lot, but not around other people. mostly in the shower and in the moments before falling asleep. when i was in middle school i used to ride my bike in circles daydreaming.
22. i don't typically take books to public places.
23. i don't mind doing things by myself, but i don't really insist on it. tbh idc
24. talk to them, continue thinking on the side
25. i think it's that way for most people
26. this is the same as #1 tsk tsk buzzfeed
27. it is ok, but it ain't me

i'm not really sure what i think of the intro/extrovert obsession. it doesn't feel as real as people make it out to be

* sometimes as in it varies with pole & stuff

I used to be hugely introverted, but I realised it was because I was hanging around with the wrong people, now that I live and hang out with a different group of people I find I come out of my shell more and I don't feel so mentally exhausted after interacting with people.
Come back if you want to
And remember who you are

use your mod powers and fix it

I can't do that

Also I am becoming more extroverted over time, I think largely due to working at a casino. Guest interaction is not as forced, but the pool of employees is pretty large and you can't avoid everyone forever. Now I actually seek out the company of the floor people, because my department has been slow lately.

Most of my time is spent mingling with other departments now

i just generally dislike most people

i'm torn between extrovert and introvert. When I'm depressed, I obviously stay in and don't mix with people but when I'm not in my depression I go out and be social and mingle with people

Still not a fan of most people though

Introverted, I prefer being alone a lot of the time.

Same here.
Its one of the reasons I'm a night owl. No one around to bother me when I'm working on something.
GOD, how I hate getting interrupted when I'm working on something.
Really, really pisses me off.

And my mom seems to have the knack of interrupting me at the wrong time.
Like if I'm in the middle of watching TWD, or Doctor who, or designing a PCB, or eating dinner or talking to someone on the phone or doing anything that really requires me to concentrate on what I am doing.
Her timing really sucks. Makes me wanna punch her in the throat.
Or she "needs" something done RIGHT NOW when my dinner is in the oven or in a frying pan and is something like 5 minutes from being done.

I don't even like small parties unless I know at least 90% of the people there.
The only time I can handle being with large groups of people is if I'm playing a gig and on stage.

My last GF and I knew each other for 9 years.
We were BF/GF for the last 4 of those years.
When we moved in together, we lasted about 4 months before we both wanted to kill each other.

I REALLY NEED my alone time. OFTEN.

introvert master-race checking in

i gain my energy from being alone.

i like to sit in my room, alone, and play guitar, read books, read/watch stuff on the internet, and go to the gym.

i have a lot of introverted hobbies, like longboarding/skateboarding/bike riding (you could do all 3 of these with friends, and I do all the time, but i have way more fun by myself)

im not shy at all, i tell people some crazy stuff, even if i hardly know them. I just would rather be alone than surrounded by people all the time.

I'm introverted. If I have to be sociable because of some event I usually get bored of talking after a while and crave alone time. I don't understand people who can socialise all day.
I have nothing important to say

It is actually extrAverted, extroverted is a common misconception.

And I am introverted as fuk

so introverted that even on an internet message board, the usual place for introverts to really converse, I spend most of my time lurking rather than socialising.

i mean like I barely make a handful of posts a day despite wasting hours in the forums. some days I force myself to make one token post, no matter how dumb it is, just so I don't feel like a total lameass.

don't really communicate at all elsewhere online, like on facebook (I do spend a lot of time while crapping reading everyone's dumb shit on fb though)
O.K.

I guess I'm a bit of a balance, I have a large group of friends whom I see very regularly, but I absolutely have many introverted qualities and my alone time is one of the most valuable things to me.

Being around people is exhausting

Isn't it though? I like to be a little outgoing every now and then, show some character and such, have a luagh. But I almost always think back to these moments realizing that nearly everything I say or do is stupid and I probably would've been better off had I just remained silent.

Yet then I get to thinking "who cares? This is just a confidence issue. Ignore you, just be you."

And the cycle repeats.

You can be an extrovert but just shy at first.

From what I gather, the main difference between introversion and extroversion is most connected to how much you give of yourself to people in general and how important it is to you. You can give yourself to other people at ease and still be shy at first.

At least, that's the way I interpret it.

People just exaggerate what it means to be an introvert and an extrovert.
