I wanted to get a jazzmaster but I play lefty so theyre hard to find, so Im thinking of an offset/copy. I've only heard good things about these and they sound cool but they look kinda weird. Anyway, has anyone played these? Are they worth getting?

I'm a little hesitant about buying a guitar I can't play first, but if I don't like it I can always return it :/ none of the stores in my area have any right handed ones either but they seem exceptional! I've played strats, mustangs, and jazzmasters before if any of those play/feel similar to the dipinto (????)

Thanks

First of all, let me give you these to work with:

http://www.southpawguitars.com/
http://www.adirondackguitar.com/lefty/LHMenu.htm
http://www.jerrysleftyguitars.com/
http://leftyguitarsonly.com/

As for the DiPintos, they seem to be pretty cool, but I haven't handled one myself. Still...I want a Galaxie 4. Preferably one of the Los Straightjackets ones.

Brands I DO know:

You might also look consider Reverend lefties. They only do 2-3 different lefty models a year, and rotate them out. Currently, they have 2 offsets in that run: the Jetstream 390 (3 P90s and a trem) and the Double Agent (a P90 in the neck, a HB in the bridge, and a trem).

As I recall, G&L makes most of their guitars available as lefties. Their Fallout is a hardtail offset.

Also, one of the other posters in THIS thread may be able to give you more info:

Its been a long time since I had touched a DiPinto guitar so I'm not really helpful, but let me tell you this- the man DiPinto can play amazing shit on guitar. Hes related to someone I was in a band with so I met him a few times and even played our first show with his band. He would go full eighties outfit with the bullets across the chest and everything. The band was political, and this drunk guy started to ramble on about whatever agenda was big at the time at one of his shows so he took a fewsteps back , said something to the drummer and then ran and slid on his knees towards the drunk and hit the opening chord right in front of him, it was really funny, because offstage hes laid back and really chill but on stage he jumps off amps and shuts drunks up with rock slides. I'll shut up now, hope someone enjoyed that lol

I've seen the reverends and G&Ls before, they seem cool but I don't really like P90s and a surf trem is a big thing for me :/

Thanks for the links though, Adirondack seems like the best bet so far. I also emailed eastwood and they said they're remodeling the Yamaha SGV 800 next year, so that might be worth waiting for.

I mostly don't wanna spend $2000 on a jazzmaster haha

Adirondack seems to do a good job of stocking guitars across a decent price range, even for lefties.

But what do you mean by "surf trem"?

Mmm...ok. That's a taller order, then, because (obvs) not all offsets use that style trem.

You've stated you don't want to spend $2000. What is your actual budget?

Well, I could spend that much but I'd much rather not so I have more money for effects and recording gear

Part of my issue as I look through my resources is that many companies I know of making offsets are:

1) at least as expensive as Fender, if not moreso
2) are out of business
3) don't use the style of trem you want
4) don't make many/any lefties

(Pick 1 or more.)

How do you feel about having someone put an aftermarket lefty trem on a guitar?

It wouldnt be that big of a deal if they do it well

I'm still really interested in the galaxies though, i might try to go to a few different stores and see if they have any right handed ones

Did a little crawling the www. Apparently, there are not that many parts makers supplying left-handed Jazzmaster-style tremolos.

These are the closest I have found:
http://www.masterybridge.com/store/

And

http://staytrem.com/Page-/-Category
When ordering you will need to select the correct size for your guitar -
For all USA made guitars please select the 3/8" US option
For all other models please select the 10mm option except for Classic Player and Jaguarillo.
For MIM Classic Players and Jaguarillo's there are two possible size variations so please see our selection guide for further information before purchasing.

Choice of White, Black or Ivory plastic tip on the arm.

If purchasing for a left handed guitar please let us know by adding a noter when ordering.
