I just ordered a Jolana Star IX offline and am BEYOND excited seeing as it still has working electronics and isn't in TOO rough of shape. However I really would like to get some parts updated and really like to get a new paint scheme on it. I really love the idea of doing Gundam based colors (white, red, blue yellow) but am not sure what part should be painted what color. Any ideas on what might look best?

An Acer Chromebook is not exactly ideal for this kind of work, but here is what I came up with:

You could also go with a bigger decal centered on the back. I don't really know anything about the show, but that is a very cool guitar. I wonder how hard it would be to put a tune-o-matic style bridge on it. That acoustic bridge looks like it could be trouble.

Yeah, at least paint the headstock to match the body, then maybe some pinstriping. Even if you don't do anything with the finish, I would definitely put some big chickenhead knobs or something similar on it.

I didn't think about decals and pin stripes. That could get real fancy. I think a decal on the back would be sick. Definitely will paint the neck the same color.

Yeah, I think I might try to find some yellow knobs. So far I'm thinking white body and neck, blue middle pickguard, red lower pickguard, yellow knobs and pickups, with maybe a black bridge and black tuners.

Also, I tried refinishing a neck once, and I really wouldn't recommend it unless you've done some refinishing before. It can be hard to get a texture that doesn't wreck the playability of the neck. The front of the headstock would be easy enough, just make sure you mask everything off really well first.

Yeah, I love those knobs. I don't plan on doing any of the painting seeing as I know that would be a disaster. I'll have it done at the place I take lessons. Those guys will do her right.
