Reading the manual transmission thread people were talking about their first cars and what they're driving now. It was interesting, and I'd like to know what you guys started out on and what you're driving now.

Post 'em!

I don't have a pic of the actual car, but a 1996 Honda Accord was my first. What a piece of shit. Windows didn't work, AC didn't work, nothing except the radio worked. Suspension squeaked like a bitch over every little bump. Finally got rid of it when the muffler fell off. Not even a big fix, but was looking for any excuse to scrap the fucking thing.

This is what I'm driving now. Standard, 4x4, 94 Toyota 4Runner. I love it. Needs a little TLC, minor stuff mostly, but runs awesome. Thing's a tank.

Haven't graduated to a new new car, don't know if I ever will to be honest. I kind of like old beat up cars, just not my first. Can't stress enough how big of a piece of shit it was.

First AND current

Parents would never go in with me to buy a car in high school, so I just borrowed theirs, and bought the Maxima when I was 19 and had a full time job.
My God, it's full of stars!

First car - the non-turbo, petrol version of this shitbox.

Pros: really fucking cheap

Cons: Everything else

Current shitbox:

Pros: pretty cheap
Cons: Most everything else

I only bought the car 2 months ago and I'm already desperate to sell it. Not because there anything wrong with it, but it's noisy, painfully underpowered, bland but mostly because it makes you look a complete pillock.

2015 BMW M235i, manual, factory ordered

Love this car so much and it is a keeper for as long as I can. Perfect balance of refinement and sporting character, all depending on your input. Got the classic BMW design beauty (aside from the taillights). A spiritual successor to the e46 M3. Rock solid N55 engine built at the end of its production life where the bugs/kinks have all been worked out. Puts a smile on me every day and I always glance back at it when I'm walking away

A video from last weekend's road trip. Dat sweet ass straight 6!!!

My new work car, however, which I should have mid January is a BMW M235i Coupé.

Polo.

It's not that it's a bad car, it's just totally unremarkable at anything. Given what I actually need a car to do, I could probably be driving a Citroen C1 without any problems tbh. Would be cheaper, too.

Melbourne Red. It was either that or Estoril Blue, never thought the 2 series looks right in black, silver or white. Black interior. Adaptive headlights, the Professional Media package with the Harman Kardon upgrade and Adaptive M-Sport suspension.

It is auto, though. Never got on with manual BMWs, the clutch and brake are too close together, makes my legs go into an uncomfortable position.

03 silverado. It had it's problems, but it's in decent shape for an older truck, I'm happy with it.

I disagree with you about alpine white... looks excellent with a few black accents for contrast as you can see from my earlier post > : [

It can look good in black too but it's gotta be blacked out...

Melbourne Red should look pretty good as well if you keep the cosmetics stock. The tech pkg / nav is wonderful!!! The suspension is terrific for daily use. Very compliant but once you kick it into sports suspension it's very assuring in corners.

Boo on the auto tho.. Puts me to sleep. Paddle shifters are useless for daily use.

Some info: comfort / eco mode mutes the exhaust and only outputs through 1 pipe. You need to be in sport or DSC OFF to activate the full exhaust system. I drive DSC OFF mostly (regular throttle / drivetrain, sports suspension / steering, no traction control)

Congrats. You'll love it

All the BMWs I've driven through work have had the same suspension. Know exactly what you mean with sports mode.

I do have the allowance to get a decent spec'd 530d M Sport, but as I pocket any allowance I don't use, I decided against it. Don't really need a vehicle of that size anyway.

You made the right choice. The F10 sucks... so boring, especially with a diesel plant.

Within a few months I will pick up a 2nd gen Miata as a daily. Will be a nice contrast to the 2er.

First car was a ford escort. I think it was a 99 or 00 or something. I ended up in the ditch when I was driving home super sleepy. I didn't quite fall asleep at the wheel, but zoned out pretty bad and then realized holy shit here comes that 90 degree turn and gravel from a side road and I'm doing 60 mph. Hit the brakes, cut the wheel all the way, and slid right into a pretty high bank. I wasn't hurt or anything, but the car was done. I had some 6x9 speaker boxes sitting on my back dash like an idiot that flew right over my head and cracked the windshield. I made sure to take the effort to actually replace my back dash speakers in my new car with those instead of putting them in an extremely dangerous position where they could fly around.

Then I got a 2000 honda civic, which is what I'm still driving. Not the most awesome car ever, has a few small dents (from other people being idiots) and a spot on the hood where the clear coat is flaking off (no idea when or why that happened) but it averages something like 30 mpg and the few times I've had to work on it the parts are pretty inexpensive and it's not too difficult to work on so I'm happy enough with it. My only issue with it is I've recently started having a problem where when it rains really hard it's getting in somewhere and soaking my front passenger side floorboard and I can't figure out where it's coming from. I pulled back the carpet and had my dad soak it down with the waterhose around the windshield and door and everywhere while I looked around inside but it stayed dry the whole time. Every time it rains really hard I keep having to vacuum and spray lysol and shit to fight the mildew.

True, but IMO, cars are either exciting or road legal.

Mazda Rx-8 GT model and a rebuilt custom Yamaha FZR 600. I'd post pix but I'm lazy.

Saving up for FD Rx7 currently but traveling is consuming most of my monies.

this x100. Pushing my 1L Toyoyta Yaris (03) to 100mph at 4am on a kinda foggy morning was scary s**t but so much fun.

pretty neat car, cheap to run, enough space for gear, digital dashboard, reasonable soundsystem, small.. no complaints here!
