OK, so I recently got a Schecter Hellraiser C1-FR that has the Floyd Rose 1000 on it. Everything has been great for the couple of weeks I have had it. Nothing seems weird about it (going out of tune, etc) but tonight I noticed there are small brass colored flakes forming around where the knife edges make contact with the studs. I'm just wondering if this is something I should be losing sleep over or not. This is my first guitar with a Floyd Rose so I'm obviously not used to this type of situation. And I know I am going to get a few "The original is so much better" responses. I get that they can be better but that is not what I am looking to find out!

Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.

Have you adjusted the guitar's action under string tension? Because if you have, then that would explain it. You shouldn't be doing that if such is the case.

And well yes, I'll enjoy the carpal tunnel and tendonitis, because trying to get one is clearly smarter than any word you have spoken thus far.

sounds like the black paint is wearing off at the pivot point which is pretty normal in that area.

T00DEEPBLUE, I haven't changed the action at all since I got the guitar.

Robbgnarly, is it possible that could happen with chrome Floyds too? Mine has a slightly dark chrome finish on it. I'm not sure how brass comes into the picture with finishes O.o

A little later I can snap a picture to show what I mean.

Chrome plating will usually flake a little right around the knife edges and more than likely from the studs to. The entire bridge and studs are made of hardened steel, only the tone block is brass. Maybe it has a layer of brass plating underneath the top plating or something?
