Hey all,

I just picked up a 5150 head (block letters) to match my 5150 4 cab. This is my first real amplifier half stack and my first tube amp ever, so I'm rather inexperienced when it comes to this area of guitar playing. There's a switch on the back of the amp head to switch between 4 ohms, 8 ohms and 16 ohms. My cabinet says it's specifically wired for 16 ohms. What should I set my amp to and what do I do when I pick up a second cabinet? Are there different settings that I will need to use?

Yes 16 ohms to match the one cab.

For adding a second cab, it depends on the impedance of that cab. The two speaker out connections are in parallel according to the manual. So if you add 2x 16 ohm cabs then you set the switch to 8 ohms.
Guitars:
Jackson Kelly KE3 - MIJ (Distortion/Jazz)
Jackson DKMGT Dinky (EMG 81/85)
ESP E-II Eclipse Custom (JB/'59)
ESP LTD EC-1001FR (EMG 81/60)
Fender MIM Strat

Amps:
Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier Roadster 212
Laney IronHeart IRT-Studio
Peavey Vypyr 30
Peavey ReValver Amp Sims
TOOOO many T.C. Electronic Pedals. . .
