I recently got a new computer and yesterday I decided to install TuxGuitar on to it. I got it from SourceForge and it said the program was updated earlier this month (good news, right?) but things were a lot harder this time around. Instead of being able to just click "run" after it finished installing, I had to extract it because it's in some weird format (.gz, wtf?) and when I did extract it, it changed to another weird format and I couldn't open it with anything after that.

What the hell happened? Also, all websites associated with TuxGuitar's main website display an error instead.

Did something happen to the company that I'm not aware of?

x64 Windows 10 here as well. You're saying I downloaded the Linux version? That makes sense but I have no idea why the Linux version I selected is the default download.

Let me try again.

Hardware failure - Loose nut between keyboard and chair.

Also known as PEBKAC error. (Problem exists between Keyboard and Chair)

Or, in particularly recalcitrant situations, an ID 10 T error.

Here's the Wikipedia citation source for download (the one I just installed).

Be warned, the updater might trick you into downloading extra things (like shitty browser games) so decline most of the ToS's you see. http://download.chip.eu/en/Tux-Guitar-1.1_3639068.html

I'm not really sure if we're allowed to discuss TG here because this site is trying to flog Guitar Pro or a similar product ;|

I'm pretty sure its fine, they're touting Tab Pro but they certainly didn't delete all the other tab types. Even if they do care they can go fuck themselves if thats the case

all this thread made me want to do is play silent hill 2 so thanks i guess

i used tux guitar for a bit but i thought it was shit compared to gp5 so i got that instead and then never used it

Lol. I haven't touched Silent Hill 2 in ages.

Of course Tux Guitar is shit compared to Guitar Pro, that's why it costs $60 and TG costs $0.
