Blasphemy for a man who says he does not like fuzz! An Octave fuzz does seem to be a fun bit of kit just to play around with. I really do not play fuzz-requiring music for performance that often. But I would like to try it.

Sub $100 USD for me. I do not want to put a lot of money into it, unless nothing is really worth it at that price point. Thinking the EHX Octavix. I definitely want the glitchy-ring-mod sound, not just an octave up.

Go!

MXR Blue Box comes to mind. Fairly cheap so if you aren't into it then you are not out too much money.

I have some recommendations...not really in your price range. But I believe in presenting options.

1) The Catalinbread Octopussy is a classic octave-up fuzz in the vein of an Octavia. You'd have to find a used one to get into your price range, since it costs $180 new (though someone on Reverb.com is selling a new one for $140). I don't have the Octopussy, but I do have other Catalinbread pedals, including their suboctave fuzz, the Perseus. Good stuff.

2) the considerably more expensive Earthquaker Devices
Hoof Reaper can be had for $220 used. It costs so much because it is essentially 3 pedals in one: EQD's Hoof and their Reaper fuzzes plus an octave circuit they eventually made into a standalone pedal, the Tentacle. Again, I don't own this pedal! but I do own other EQD products. Can't go wrong, really.

3) closest to your budget is the Malekko Helium (original or MkII)- it will get you what you want. I don't own any Malekko, but I like the sounds of this pedal, and trashedlostfdup has some of their pedals that he absolutely swears by. I think they're not currently in production, so if you like it & find one, grab it.

I do swear by my malekko pedals. I have a 616, 616 lo-fi, chorus, a fetish, and a unity. They have done me well and can be had for not a lot of cash. Malekko is a hidden secret.

I have a voodoo lab proctavia, its pretty nice and I paid under $60 for it. Keep in mind that it is center positive so you will need an isolated power or another adapter for it.

I really like the MXR pedals so the blue box would be a good go to. I personally have an octavio by dunlop, its a Jimi pedal they remade for mass distribution. It is pretty solid, really deep fuzz tone and pretty powerful. great for punchy riffs.

The blue box is two octaves down, but it is a cool pedal.

I would go voodoo lab over MXR/Dunlop every day.

For sub-$100, go with the Devi Ever Vintage Fuzz Master.

Might as well go the octavest and fuzziest you can

VS makes good sounding, well made, affordable pedals- I have a couple myself- but isn't the AF and octave down pedal?
